INDEPENDENCE - Warren G. Hoffman, 86, of Independence, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at West Village Care Center in Independence, following a short illness.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the First United Methodist Church in Independence. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements.
He was born March 24, 1921, in Buchanan County, the son of Frank H. and Grace Imogene (Griswold) Hoffman. He graduated from the Jesup High School in 1939. On April 6, 1945, he and the former Bernadine May Clue were married at Independence. Mr. Hoffman was a machinist at John Deere Co. in Waterloo for 36 years retiring in 1983.
He is survived by his wife Bernadine; two daughters, Marjorie Merfeld and Nancy Smith, both of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Ronald (Vicki) of Charles City. and Dennis (Dawn) Hoffman of Waterloo; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
