LAMONT - Arthur D. Morris, 84, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at Mercy Health Care Center in Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Lamont, with burial in Cass Township Cemetery, Strawberry Point. Military graveside rites conducted by Loren Foster Legion Post of Lamont.
The Fawcett Funeral Home of Lamont assisted the family with arrangements.
Arthur Duane Morris was born June 11, 1923, the son of Dean Preussner and Estrid Ione (Keyes) Morris on the family farm south of Lamont. On Feb. 16, 1946, he married Darlene Junemarie Dexter at Strawberry Point. Art then served as an Army medical technician in the U.S. until his discharge in August 1947.
Art and Darlene returned to the family farm where they dairy farmed and raised beef cattle, hogs and chickens, along with crop farming for 60 years.
Survivors include his wife Darlene of Lamont, his daughter Marietha Ann (Carl) Poole of Lamont; his son Marlin Scott (Naomi) Morris of Cincinnati, Ohio; special friend Susan Crouse of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; his sister Donna Crow of Lamont; and nephews, other relatives and friends.
