FAIRBANK - Dan J. Egan, 72, of rural Fairbank, died at home Sunday morning, July 8, 2007, after a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank, with the Rev. Lloyd Reuter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, with a 7 p.m. scripture service.
Dan J. Egan. was born March 16, 1935, at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, the son of William Leo and Johanna (Cannell) Egan. He married Leota Beltz on Dec. 6, 1969, at the I.C. Church in Fairbank. Dan was a lifelong area farmer. He also worked seven years as a foreman for L.E. Myers Construction. He was a member of the I.C. Church in Fairbank . Survivors include his wife, Leota; his brother, John of Oelwein; two nephews, Matt (Tami) Egan of Sumner and David (Kelly) of Westgate; six nieces, Kelly (Chris) Matt of Sumner, Sharon (Paul) Schemmel of Cedar Falls, Jennifer Egan Smith (Randy Smith) of Sumner, Stephanie Egan Holtz (Kevin Holtz) of Sumner, Laura Egan of Madison, Wis., Laurie Maker of Strawberry Point, special family member Amber Egan of Austin, Texas; sister- and brother-in-law Darwin and Lauretta Jones of Arlington; several cousins and 15 great nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Darrin Jones and Gary Maker. Memorials may be directed to the family.
