Nov. 11,1926 - July 8,2007 AURORA - Norbert M. Knapp, 80, of Aurora, unexpectedly passed away Sunday evening July 8 2007 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, July 12,2007 at the American Legion Hall in Aurora. Military honors will be provided by the Aurora American Legion Post 435. Interment will be in Madison Cemetery south of Aurora.
Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop with a fireman's tribute at 7:30 p.m.
Norbert was born Nov. 11, 1926 at Independence, the second son of Leslie and Lucy Dozark Knapp. He served in the Army during World War II in Germany from Aug. 14, 1945 to Jan. 14, 1947. Norb married Eileen Jenks Aug. 30, 1950 at Oelwein. He owned and operated Knapp's service station in Aurora for 45 years. He was elected mayor of Aurora in, 1952 and served for many years.
Survivors include his wife Eileen; two daughters, Kaye Reiling (Kevin Passick) of Aurora and Pam (Gary) Kester of San Diego, Calif.; his son Scott (Sandy) of Eagle, Idaho; five grandchildren; step grandchildren; great grandson; his brother Leslie (Lois) Knapp of San Antonio; Texas; his sister JoAnne (Robert) McMasters of Woodstock, Ill.; a sister-in-law Marilyn of Saginaw, Mich.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
