SOMERVILLE, N.J. - Gerald M. Watson, 89, of Somerville, New Jersey and formerly of Hazleton, Iowa, died Thursday, May 30,.2007 at Foothill Acres Nursing Home in Hillsborough, N.J. after a long illness.
Graveside military rites and interment will be 2 p,m. Thursday, June 7, at Hazleton (Fontana) Cemetery.
Gerald M. Watson was born Oct. 13, 1917 at Hazleton, the son of Tim and Clare (Folmer) Watson. He graduated from Hazleton High School and Iowa State University. Gerald joined the ROTC program in college and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was active in the army and reserves for over 25 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Gerald was employed as a supervisory engineer for the National Board of Fire Underwriters in New York City for 30 years. He lived in Somerville, N.J. for many years before moving to Hillsborough in 2003.
He is survived by his stepson Ronald E. Graiff and his wife Winifred, of Fairfield, Conn.; and two nephews, Charles Watson of Hazleton and Clyde Watson. of San Diego, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jean Graiff Watson who died in 1993; a stepson Robert Graiff; and a brother Paul Watson.
