INDEPENDENCE – Ray D. Durbin, 88, of Independence, Iowa died Saturday evening, December 8, 2007, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point following a long illness.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Durbin, Independence; five children, John Durbin of Hudson, Wisconsin, Kathleen Blad of Daytona Beach, Florida, Linda Smith of Jesup, Diane Stewart of Hudson, Wisconsin, and Chuck Durbin of Fircrest, Washington; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Sherman of Yucca, California.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, December 15, 2007, at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence with Rev. Carroll Robinson, officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM Friday at the funeral home, where a military memorial service will be held at 7 PM.
