JESUP - Funeral services for Otto J. Beehner were held Monday, Nov. 17, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with the Rev. Donald P. Schmitt officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
The White Funeral Home, Jesup, was in charge of arrangements where a parish rosary and vigil service were held during visitation Sunday.
Mr. Beehner, 93, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at Peoples Memorial Long Term Care, Independence, after an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 29, 1904, in Dunkerton, the son of Otto and Anna (Schmitt) Beehner. On March 30, 1932, he married Catherine Anne Phillips at Jesup. She preceded him in death in 1980. Mr. Beehner was retired from a farming career, which began near Dunkerton and Gilbertville, before he purchased a farm southeast of Jesup in 1940. He was also a school bus driver for Jesup Community Schools for more than 20 years. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son, Donald of Jesup; three daughters, Marguerite Walters of Omaha, Neb.; Judith Ruston of San Diego, Calif., and Rosemary Traynor of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Michael of Evansdale, Peter of Billings, Mont., and William of Clear Lake; and one sister, Betty Hein of Dysart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Catherine; one daughter, Bernice Beehner in 1993; a granddaughter, Susan Walters; one brother, Francis; and four sisters, Agnes Atkins, Josephine Levendusky, Marie Kelly and Margaret Beehner.
