Frank 'Joe' Althaus
JESUP - Funeral services for Frank "Joe" Althaus will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, with the Rev. John Sheda officiating.
Mr. Althaus, 60, died of natural causes Friday, Nov. 14, 1997, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo.
He was born March 21, 1937, in Iowa City, the son of William Carl and Beatrice (Hurd) Althaus. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. In 1959, he married Delores Latham in Independence. She preceded him in death in 1972. On Feb. 9, 1974,he married Gail Marie McKeen in Jesup.
Survivors include his wife, Gail; six daughters, Julie Woodward, Patty Youngblut, Paula Mangrich and Denise Althaus, all of Jesup, Kate Fourtner of Waterloo, and Becky Ohrt of Quasqueton; one son, Harvey of South San Francisco, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; five brothers, William, Albert and John, all of Independence, Victor of California, and Fred Lenards of Missouri; and four sisters, Marguerite Reeves and Bobbie Mathis of Independence, Mary Benson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Rose McElroy of Henry, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Fred Lenards, Sr.; his first wife, Delores; and one sister, Dorothy (Good) Cornish.
