JESUP -Funeral services for Marie Ehr were held Monday, July 28, at St Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with the Rev. Donald J. Ehr officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. The White Funeral Home, Jesup, was in charge of arrangements where a C.D.A. rosary, parish rosary and vigil service were held during visitation Sunday.
Mrs. Ehr, 92, died Friday, July 25, 1997, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, following a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 23, 1905, in Barclay Township, Black Hawk County, the daughter of Michael and Mary, (Nuebel) Staebell. 0n Nov. 3, 1927, she married Irvin N. Ehr at St Francis Catholic Church, Dunkerton. The couple farmed in Barclay Township until retiring and moving to Jesup. Mrs. Ehr was a member of St Athanasius Catholic Church.
Survivors include four sons, Father Donald J. Ehr, SVD, of Chicago, Ill, Ronald M. and Francis E., both of Jesup, and Irvin James of Dunkerton; two daughters, Mary (Richard) Vogel of Jesup, and Marlene (Bernard) Chaudoir of Northlake, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Michael Staebell of Jesup and Paul Staelbell of Waterloo; and two sisters, Lee Staebell of Dunkerton and Sister Leah Staebell, SSND, of Mankato, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband, Irvin; one grandson; four brothers, Joseph, Francis, William; and Father Vincent Staebell, SVD; and three sisters, Christine Nemmers, Margaret Corkery and Dorothy Meadows.
A memorial fund has been established for St. Athanasius School, Jesup, and St. Elizabeth School, Chicago.
