June C. Satterlee
INDEPENDENCE - June C. Satterlee, 94, of Independence, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. She was born July 1, 1912, in Waterloo, the daughter of William Henry and Minnie Myrtle (Reisinger) Stevens. She was the youngest in a family of 11 children. She graduated from the Rowley Consolidated Schools in Rowley with the class of 1930. On Oct. 20, 1933, she and Howard Franklin Satterlee were married in Nashua, at the Little Brown Church. They farmed near Rowley and Brandon, before moving to Independence, in 1970. Mr. Satterlee preceded her in death on May 11, 2004. Mrs. Satterlee was a member of the First United Methodist church in Independence and was active in the United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Satterlee is survived by one daughter, Marlene (Ivan) Steinbeck of Independence; two sons, James (Gloria) Satterlee of Edmond, Okla., and Alan (Carol) Satterlee of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren, David Steinbeck, Beth Little, Amy Steinbeck, Michelle Chilton, Keli Todd, Brian Satterlee and Kristen Pomajzl; 11 great grandchildren, Julie, Walt, and Alan Steinbeck, Courtney and Candace Little, Olivia Chilton, Brittney, Garrett, and Corbin Todd, and Ava and Willa June Pomajzl, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Robyn Lisa Satterlee; five brothers Floyd, Wesley, Roy, Elmer and Claude Stevens; and five sisters Oril Stevens, Alice Livingston, Bernice Armagost, Helen Henderson and Bessie Jamieson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, at the First United Methodist Church in Independence, with the Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Thursday at the White Funeral Home of Independence.
