INDEPENDENCE - Manuel Carl Blumenshine, 75, of Amelia, Neb., formerly of Independence, died Monday, March 26, 2007, at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls, following a short illness.
Funeral services ll a.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Cornerstone Four Square Church Independence. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
He was born May 24, 1931, in Independence, Iowa, the son of Manuel Charles and Ruth Pearl Blumenshine. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On Feb. 14, 1956, he and the former Kay Lynne Dey were married in Independence and were later divorced. Mr. Blumenshine was a barber in Quasqueton, for more than 20 years, before moving to Nebraska.
Survivors include. three daughters, Karla (John) Reidy of Winthrop, Cheryl Hettinger of Walker and Linda (Gerald) Vandemere of Tampa, Fla., seven grandchildren, one brother, Lloyd of Evansdale, and one sister, Maye Youngblut of Washburn.
