AURORA - Virginia A. MacDonald, 84, of Aurora, died on Thursday evening, March 22, 2007 at the Oelwein Health Care Center, after a short illness.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurora, with the Rev. Ron Spears officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Putnam Township, rural Aurora.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, 221 N. Frederick Ave., in Oelwein, and after 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given in her name to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Aurora or to the Oelwein Health Care Center, 600 Seventh St. S.E., Oelwein, IA 50662.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur of Aurora; her son, Fred (Debbie) MacDonald of Sun Prairie, Wis.; her daughter, Vicki (Monte) Canfield of Center City, Minn.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her sister, Veva Buhr of Aurora.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Virginia Alberta Hahn was born on Aug. 22, 1922 at Aurora, Iowa the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Pagels) Hahn. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1939 and received her teaching certificate from Upper Iowa University at Fayette. Virginia married Arthur Marlett MacDonald on Sept. 19, 1948 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Aurora. She was a schoolteacher, homemaker, and with her husband, Arthur owned and operated Mac's Clothing Store in Woodruff, Wis., for many years. Virginia was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurora and loved to work in the garden. She has been a resident of the Oelwein Health Care Center since May of 2006.
