Virgil F. Carver
ROWLEY - Virgil F. Carver, 81, of Rowley, died Sunday, March 25, 2007, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, following a short illness. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, at the Presbyterian Church in Rowley. Burial will be at a later date. The family requests no flowers and casual dress at the service on Wednesday. White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements.
He was born May 24, 1925, in Oneida, Iowa, the son of Fred and Florence (Medaris) Carver. During World War II, he served in the Army. On Nov. 28, 1942, he and the former Katherine M. Chesmore were married in Kahoka, Mo. For 40 years, Virgil was a long-haul semi truck driver for several companies before retiring in 1988.
Survivors include his wife Katherine; two daughters, Elaine (Larry) Ague of Rowley and Jo Anne Dillon of Sioux Falls, S.D.; six sons, Glenn of Raytown, Mo., Neil (Marlene) of Center Point, Chub Carver of Riverview, Fla., Larry Dean (Julie) of Walker, Wayne (Mary) of Independence, and Merlin (Lynn) of Lawrence, Kan.; 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson.
