ROWLEY - Wanda C. Birner, 81, of Rowley, died Monday, March 5, 2007, at West Village Care Center, Independence, following a short illness.
Funeral services: 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, at the Rowley United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Rowley Cemetery.
Friends may call: from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the White Funeral Home, Independence, and after 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
She was born Feb. 28, 1926, in Sac County, Iowa, the daughter of Ward William and Jessie Myrtle (Reidesel) Locke. On Jan. 22, 1946, she married Raymond Wilbur Birner in Des Moines (he died in 1977). She worked 40 years as a registered nurse at the Mental Health Institute and later at People's Memorial Hospital, both in Independence.
Survivors: one daughter, LaVonne (Francis "Gus") Augustson of Nevis, Minn.; two sons, Michael (Julie) Biner of Nisland, S.D., Dean Biner of Independence; four grandchildren, one great grandson; and three brothers, Vernon (Marilyn) Locke, Evansdale, Malcolm (Connie) Locke, Cambridge, and Dennis Locke, Nevada, Iowa.
