Roberts Berry Shaffer
Rowley--Roberts Berry Shaffer, 76, of rural Rowley, died at home Friday, Jan. 16, following a short illness.
He was born Sept. 7, 1927 in Linn County, son of Louis James and Cleo Dell Myers Shaffer. On Dec 26, 1948 he married Katheryn DeFoy Kaiser in Brandon.
Mr. Shaffer was a 1944 graduate of Rowley High School, and had farmed in Buchanan County for 40 years, retiring in 1989. He was director of R.E.C. from 1974 to 1986.
Survivors include his wife, a son, Daniel (Teri) of Lamont; a daughter, Connie (Jeff) Paxton of Laurel; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, and a sister, Bethel Betsworth of East Moline, ILL.
Services: 10:30 AM Monday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, both in Independence. Friends may call after 4 PM today at White Funeral Home, Independence.
Memorial fund has been established.
