INDEPENDENCE - Funeral services for Neil G. McMurrin will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at the White Funeral Home, Independence, with the Rev. Howard Mace officiating. Burial will be in the Littleton Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where there will be a military memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. McMurrin, 64, died suddenly Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at Peoples Memorial Hospital, Independence.
He was born Feb. 27, 1933, in Anamosa, the son of William LaRue and Mae Frances White McMurrin. He attended school in Cedar Rapids.On July 23,1951,he married Doris Marie Parshall in Anamosa.Mr.McMurrin served in the U.S.Army during the Korean Conflict. Before retiring in 1983, he was a fork lift operator at Wilson Foods, Cedar Rapids, for 31 years. He was a member of Bechter-Boies VFW Post 2440, Independence.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; six sons, David of Centerville, Randy of Olin, Steve and Timothy both of Independence, Doug of Mt.PIeasant, and Darrin of Oelwein; two daughters, Marla Bonebrake of Jesup, and Carla McMurrin of Independence; 16 grandchildren;two step-grandchildren; six brothers, Wilbur of Cedar Rapids, Albert and Norman, both of Independence, Roger of Waterloo, Robert of Cedar Falls and DeWayne of Oelwein; and one sister, Pauline Johnstone of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
