Flossie L. Reck
WINTHROP - Funeral services for Flossie L. Reck were held 10 am. Saturday, July 26, at Church of Christ United in Winthrop, with the Rev. Bill Gardner officiating. Music was provided by Enid Walter, organist, and Shelly Reck, vocalist. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Manchester, with Dale Fisher, Steve Kennon, Steve Reck, Mike Reck, Dick Fisher and Don Fisher serving as casket bearers. The Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Reck, 78, died Thursday, July 24, 1997, at East Towne Care Center, Independence; after a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Manchester, the daughter of R.T. and Grace Wells Kennon. She graduated from Manchester High School. On June 1, 1949, she married Cecil Dunham in Manchester. They lived there until his death in 1965. She married Paul E. Reck on Feb. 4, 1968, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Independence. The couple lived in Winthrop where she remained after his death Aug. 21, 1986, until moving to East Towne Care Center in 1994. Mrs. Reck was a member of the Church of Christ United, a past member of the Winthrop Garden Club, and the Lutheran Women's Club. She loved little children and after her first husband died, did baby-sitting in her home.
Survivors include two stepsons, Donald (Helen) and Harlan (Alice), both of Winthrop; 14 step-grandchildren; 27 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Cecil and Paul; and four brothers, Guy, Henry, Gale and Oscar Kennon; and two sisters, Alma Simmons and Julia Fisher.
