Virginia S. Belgarde
INDEPENDENCE - Funeral services for Virginia S. Belgarde will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the First Presbyterian Church, Independence with the Rev. Beverly Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence.Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at the White Funeral Home Independence.
Mrs. Belgarde, 84, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids.
She was born Sept. 26, 1913, in Milton, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Birdie Violet Buckmaster Stong. On July 16, 1939, she married Charles Edgar Belgarde in Waterloo. He preceded her in, death in 1968. She was a remedial reading teacher, at the Cromwell Unit of the Mental Health Institute, Independence, for many years before retiring in 1978.Mrs.Belgarde was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Wapsipinicon Golf Club. She was an avid bridge
player.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Donald E.) Grace of Shellsburg and Elizabeth Belgarde of Cedar Rapids; one son, Charles E. of Fairfield; and four grandchildren.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; and one brother.
