INDEPENDENCE - Funeral services for Melaine F. Kayser will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, at First United Methodist Church, Independence, with the Rev. Jack 0. Weida officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call anytime today (Friday) at the White Funeral home, Independence.
Mrs. Kayser, 66, died at her home Wednesday, Sept., 18, 1996.
She was born July 9, 1930, in Dumont, the daughter of Ernest James and Nella Dora Stock Ahrens. She graduated from West Waterloo High School in 1948. On Dec. 29, 1955, she married Lyle Barnett Shriver. The couple later divorced. On Dec. 29, 1972, she married Anthony Joseph Kayser. He preceded her in death Oct. 23,1978. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Buchanan County Genealogical Society.
Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca (Patrick) Bevans and Helen (Robert) Bergman, both of Independence; two sons, John (Ann) Shriver and Joseph Kayser, all of Independence; seven grandchildren; one brother, Edward Ahrens of Spring Valley, Minn.; and one sister, Coralee Weber of Cocoa. Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Anthony. A memorial fund has been established in her name for the Buchanan County Genealogical Society and Hospice of Buchanan County.
