INDEPENDENCE - Funeral services for Geraldine L. Sauer will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Union Church in Quasqueton, with the Rev. Paul Drake officiating. Burial will be in the Quasqueton Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m., today (Tuesday) at the Reiff Funeral Home in Independence, and from 11 a.m. until service time at the church Wednesday.
Mrs. Sauer, 75, died at her home Sunday morning, Nov. 10, 1996, following a short illness.
She was born Jan. 5, 1921, near Shellsburg, the daughter of Lloyd and Lena (Bruns) Morris. She attended the Benton County country schools near Shellsburg. On Sept. 20, 1944, she married Lowell D. Sauer in Winthrop. The couple farmed in the Troy Mills area 28 years. They retired and moved to Independence in 1974. Mrs. Sauer was a member of the Union Church of Quasqueton and the Ladies Aid.
Survivors include five daughters, Linda Plotz of Center Point, Sandy Schrader of Palo, Ginny Burgin of Wolf Creek, Mont., Wanda Brady of Corvallis, Ore., and Selda McDonnell of Red Lodge, Mon.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lowell, June 30, 1996; one granddaughter, Angel Lynn McDonnell; and a brother, Raymond Morris.
