Alvin W. 'Bill' Lynes
DENVER, Colo. - Funeral services for Alvin William 'Bill' Lynes of Denver, and formerly of Independence, were held Monday, Nov. 11, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly; with burial in the Willow Lawn Cemetery, Plainfield.
Mr. Lynes, 40, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, in Denver as the result of a vehicle/pedestrian hit and run accident.
He was born May 4, 1956, in Plainfield, the son of Alvin L. and Arlene (Griffin) Lynes. His family moved to Cedar Falls and in 1960, to Independence, where he graduated from Independence High School in
1974. He enrolled at the University of Iowa and later graduated with a B.S.in microbiology from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. On April 1, 1978, he married Linda Kremer in Independence. The couple moved to Denver, Colo., where he worked for the Department of Natural Resources. They then moved to Oklahoma City, where he worked in a laboratory in the oil and petroleum industry. The couple later divorced and he moved to Denver in the mid 1980s.
Survivors include his parents, Alvin L. and Arlene Lynes of Lansing; two daughters, Apryl L. and Gracie Arlene Lynes, both of Sunray, Texas; two brothers, Gregg L. (Sue Ann) Lynes of Dimondale, Mich., and James J. (Cathy) Lynes of Plover, Wis.; one sister, Angie R. (Ron) Nolin of Harrodsburg, Ky.; his grandmother, Florence Griffm of Charles City; four nephews and one niece.
Memorials may be directed to the Alvin W. Lynes Memorial Fund in care of the family.
