INDEPENDENCE - Funeral services for Cecil J. Milbach will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at St. John's Catholic Church, Independence, with the Rev. Aloysius J. Vorwald officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m.Tuesday at the Reiff Funeral home,Independence, where there will be a 3 p.m. rosary and a 7:30 p.m. vigil service.
Mr. Milbach, 78, died at his home Sunday evening, Nov. 2, 1997, following a long illness.
He was born Dec. 18, 1918, near Walker, the son of John and Mary (Miller) Milbach. He attended country schools near Walker. On June 15, 1940, he married Mary Kathryn Callan in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monti. The couple farmed in the Walker area until moving to Independence in 1973. Mr. Milbach became the city building inspector for a couple of years. On June 22, 1976, Kathryn Milbach died. On Jan 24,1977,he married Phyllis C. Weber Hayward in Manchester.The couple lived in Independence.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; one son, Ronald of Sikeston, Mo.; two daughters, Shirley Merfeld of Independence, and Eileen Andrews of Troy Mills; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Michael Hayward of Independence, and Dave Hayward of Columbus, Ind.; one stepdaughter, Barb VanHorn of Independence; and six step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Kathryn, and three brothers, Harold, Donald and Cornelius.
