Raymond H. Clefisch
HAZLETON - Funeral services for Raymond H. Clefisch will be 1:p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein, with the Rev. Alan Wolkenhauer officiating. Burial will be in the Hazleton Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, and one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
Mr. Clefisch, 83, died of cancer Thursday morning, Sept. 11, 1997, at Peoples Memorial Hospital, Independence.
He was born Feb. 19, 1914, at Guttenberg, the son of Johan "Fred" and Louisa (Lewin) Clefisch. He married Irma Bartels on Feb. 11, 1944, at Hope Lutheran Church, rural Westgate. The couple farmed for one year near Monona. They farmed near Westgate from 1945 to 1968. Mr. Clefisch then became a park ranger for Fontana Park for 10 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein.
Survivors include his wife, Irma; two sons, Lyle (Beverly) of Douglasville, Ga., and Dale of Spirit Lake; one daughter, Elaine (Ralph) DeGraw of Hazleton; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Hildegard Smith of Garnavillo; and one brother, Kenneth of Garnavillo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Duane; and three brothers, Lester, Harry and Harley.
A memorial fund has been established.
