INDEPENDENCE - Funeral services for Martha E. Michael will be 10:30 a.m., today (Saturday), Nov. 9, at St. John's Catholic Church, Independence, with the Rev. Al Vorwald officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Reiff Funeral Home, Independence, is in charge of arrangements where a rosary and a parish vigil service were held Friday.
Mrs. Michael, 88, died Tuesday evening, Nov.5,1996, at the East Towne Manor, Independence, following a short illness.
She was born Oct. 5, 1908, near Walker, the daughter of Hubert and Elizabeth (Wahl) Milbach. She attended the Sardinia Country School near Walker. On May 5, 1937, she married John N. Michael in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker. The couple farmed in the Rowley and Jesup areas until John died Oct. 2, 1970. Mrs. Michael then moved into Independence. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, its rosary society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Survivors include two brothers, Charles (Dolores) Milbach of Walker, and Arthur (Mary) Milbach of Marion; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John.
