ROWLEY - Funeral services for Ada E. Kautz will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, at the White Funeral Home, Independence, with the Rev. Mark Pell officiating. Music will be by Mrs. Roger Marks, organist, and Mrs. Jim Grover, soloist. Burial will be in the Rowley Cemetery, with Michael Olson, Brian Carberry, Jeffrey Olson, Brad Carberry, Tracy Trevethan, Tad Palmer, Bruce Carberry and Dawn Palmer serving as casket bearers. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kautz, 81, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
She was born June 4, 1916, in Newton Township of Buchanan County, the daughter of Samuel Edward and Virginia Minerva Evelyn McKee Hoover. She attended country schools near Quasqueton. On Sept 4, 1937, she married Ralph William Kautz in Cedar Rapids. The couple farmed, retiring in 1988. He preceded her in death in 1996. Mrs. Kautz was a member of the Happy Hour Club and the Farm Bureau.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy (Larry) Carberry of Eagan, Minn., Karen (Bob) Olson of Davis, Ill., and Linda (Myron) Palmer of New Hampton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lurah Krapf of Quasqueton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; two sisters; a half sister; and a half brother.
A Memorial fund for Hospice has been established.
