LAMONT - Funeral services for Onie Jay Prindle will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Fawcett Funeral Home Winthrop, with the Rev. James Rushton officiating. Burial will be in Byron Township (Whitney) Cemetery, north of Winthrop. Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Prindle, 94, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at Peoples Nursing Care, Independence.
He was born Feb. 16, 1903, at Fossil, Ore., the son of Loyd Byron and Nellie Emmiline Whitney Prindle. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1904 and lived south of Aurora where he attended school. On April 6, 1925, he married Wanda Sherwood. The couple had five children. Mr. Prindle lived six years in Wisconsin during the early 1930s, and had lived in Lamont for 61 years. He was a wood craftsman. He lived in his own home until entering Peoples Nursing Care Center in May 1997.
Survivors include four daughters, Darline (Wesley) Coonfare of Manchester, Shirley (Don) Fuller of Cedar Rapids, Betty (Bobbie) Boll of Weaverville, N.C., and Carol (Sanford) Sill of Linn Grove; one son, Roy of Hemet, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nettie Cashen of Independence, and Vada (Herman)Moeller of Dysart; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild, one great-grandchild; two sisters, Leta Powell and Nellie Meyers; and two brothers, Ernest and Max
