Waverly Man
Killed While
Hunting

Waverly, la.—Donald Beebe, 25, ex-marine who returned only a year ago after service on Saipan and Tarawa, was killed Sunday afternoon near here during a rabbit hunting session. Sheriff H. E. Ehlert declared the death accidental.

With three companions, Arthur Cooper, Bill Bodeker and Eugene Boedecker, all of Waverly, Beebe was returning to their car parked on the highway's shoulder near Washington creamery three miles east of Waverly

The .22 rifle of Bill Bodeker discharged and the bullet entered Beebe's head from the back. His companions rushed him to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Born Aug. 12, 1931, in Waverly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martell Beebe, he had been employed by Kehe Construction Co., and had married Verna Buhrow in Waverly Jan. 26, 1945, after returning from service. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, a 2˝ month-old daughter, Rebecca Ann; his parents; four brothers, Norman, Richard and Bruce, all of Waverly, and Robert, in Arizona; and two sisters, Mrs. Dave Cramer*, Allison, Ia., and Nancy at home. One brother, George, preceded him in death.

The body was taken to Kaiser Funeral Home here.
