DENVER - Dorothea Esther Gleason, 93, of Denver, died Friday, June 17, at Denver Sunset Home.
She was born Sept. 5, 1917, in Denver, daughter of Fred H. and Christine Schmidt Kurtt. On April 15, 1939, she married Waldo George Gleason at the Methodist Church, Independence. He died in 1961.
Mrs. Gleason graduated from Denver High School in 1935. She and her husband farmed near Denver until 1961. She then pursued a career as a licensed practical nurse, graduating from Hawkeye Community College in 1962. She worked at Allen Hospital her entire nursing career, retiring in 1991.
Survived by: two sons, Leigh (Cynthia) of Peoria, Ariz., and Dean (Judy) of Denver; a daughter, Peg (Robert) Miller of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Meyne of Waverly and Bobbi Ecker Blatchford of Chicago; two brothers, John (Laurel) Kurtt of Waverly and Art Kurtt of Denver; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Kurtt.
Preceded in death by: her parents; a grandson, Michael Miller; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Gleason; two sisters, Frieda Kurtt and Elnora Brunstein; two brothers, Erwin and Harold Kurtt; and a brother-in-law, Willard Meyne.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver, and an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
Memorials: may be directed to the church, Cedar Valley Hospice or Denver Sunset Home.
