DENVER - Daphine "Jim" Brettmann, 93, of Denver, died Saturday, April 2, at Denver Sunset Home.

She was born on April 29, 1917, in Readlyn, daughter of Rudolph and Elda Fagenbaum Busch. On May 26, 1939, she married Clarence Brettmann at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Denver. He died Dec. 8, 2000.

Mrs. Brettmann graduated from Waverly High School and attended State Teachers College (now UNI) for two years, then taught school for three years. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and the Flower Club.

Survived by: a son, Tom (Nancy) of Denver; a daughter, Sally (Lyle) Happel of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Terri (Kevin) Huber and Shawn (Robert) Buhrow, both of Denver, Tracy (Anthony) Lumetta of Cedar Falls, Dana (Mark) Cooley of St. Louis, and Amber (A.J.) Sween of Indianola; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Rudy (Wanda) Busch of Denver.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Janice and Luetta Kehe; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Denver. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Denver Sunset Home.

Jim enjoyed gardening, flowers and doing ceramics.
