WAVERLY - Richard Roach, 81, of Waverly, died Sunday, Jan. 23, at Waverly Health Center.

He was born April 19, 1929, in Waverly, son of Howard and Frieda Page Roach. He married Sandra Smith on June 15, 1957, at Grace Episcopal Church, Charles City.

Mr. Roach graduated from Plainfield High School, Plainfield, in 1946, and Wartburg College, Waverly, in 1950, with a bachelor's degree in science. He then joined his family business, Roach Farms Inc. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Plainfield.

Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Peggy (Doug) Ebert of Plainfield; a son, Shawn of Plainfield; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia (Arland) Thieking of Montrose, Colo.

Preceded in death by: a son, Michael; and a brother, John.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, with inurnment at a later date in Willow Lawn Cemetery, both in Plainfield. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Bartels Chaplaincy or to donor's choice.
