TRIPOLI — Elaine D. Bergmann, 72, of Tripoli, died Sunday, Dec. 19, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 4, 1938, in Des Moines, daughter of Harry and Mabel Hill Juel. She married Mel Bergmann on Aug. 19, 1956, at her parents' home.

Mrs. Bergmann graduated from Tripoli High School in 1956. She worked at Bartels Lutheran Home, Waverly; was a doughnut maker for Casey's in Tripoli, and worked at various restaurants in the Tripoli and Waverly areas. She also was the janitor for the Tripoli City Hall for several years, and along with her husband ran the bingo program for the city of Tripoli. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Tripoli.

Survived by: her husband; three sons, Monty (Jeanette) of Sumner, and Mitch (Dawn) and Dallas (Melinda), both of Readlyn; a daughter, Misty Bergmann of Tripoli; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Dennis (Mary Jo) Juel of Waterloo, Richard (Diane) and Clifford Juel, both of Cedar Falls, and Mark (Norma) Juel of California.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Dawn Krueger; a brother, Lloyd Juel; and a sister, Jennifer Juel.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, Tripoli, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rettig Funeral Home, Tripoli, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
