WAVERLY - Mary Marie Zwanziger, 98, of Waverly, formerly of Plainfield, died Thursday, Dec. 23, at Bartels Lutheran Home, Waverly.

She was born Oct. 14, 1912, on the family farm in rural Bremer County, daughter of Francis and Grace Marks Buckel. On June 1, 1932, she married Leo Zwanziger at Methodist Parsonage, Galena, Ill. He died in 1965.

Mrs. Zwanziger received her education at the Six-Mile Grove School. She and her husband farmed in Bremer County for many years and she also baby sat for many children in Waverly. She was a member of Plainfield United Methodist Church.

Survived by: two daughters, Jean Balvanz of Shell Rock and Linda (Don) Luck of Clarksville, Tenn.; two sons, William (Peggy) of Ionia and Leland (Patricia) of Nashua; 13 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: six brothers, William, Clifford, Francis, August "Pete," Robert and John Buckel; and two sisters, Buelah Buckel and Gertrude Olson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Plainfield, with burial in Horton Cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, Nashua, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
