WAVERLY -- Gene H. "Speed" Hallman, 86, of Waverly, died at home Thursday, Nov. 28.

He was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Waverly, son of August and Elizabeth Sukop Hallman. On June 24, 1951, he married Marjorie Lois Shipp at the Evangelical Brethran Church, Waverly. She died April of 1973. On Feb. 18, 1978, he married Georgianna Rachel "Georgie" Willbee.

He graduated from Waverly High School in 1946 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948. Mr. Hallman delivered milk for Carnation Fresh Milk Co. for 27 years, from 1950 to September 1977. After retirement from Carnation, he worked for Lutheran Mutual, now CUNA Mutual Group, from 1977 until 1995. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survived by: his wife; three sons, Larry (Jeanette) of Monticello, Ill., Bruce (Sharon) of Brunswick, Ga., and Marc (Beth) of Waverly; a stepdaughter, Bonnie (Gerald) Sullivan of Odessa, Mo.; a stepson, Robert Willbee of Cathage, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donna Miller of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: his parents; a sister in childhood; and a stepdaughter, Connie Lee Winkey.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, with burial in Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly, with military honors conducted by Waverly Area Veterans Group. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.
