WAVERLY -- Norma Jean Creger, 83, of Waverly, died Saturday, Nov. 30, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly.

She was born June 7, 1930, in Waverly, daughter of Carl W. and Nellie Shipp Eggleston. On March 25, 1951, she married DeVere Creger at the Methodist Church, Waverly.

She attended Waverly Schools and then obtained her teaching certificate from Iowa Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She later graduated from Wartburg College with a bachelor’s degree in education. Mrs. Creger taught at Douglas Township country school, Osage Elementary and then at Waverly-Shell Rock Junior High, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist.

Survived by: her husband; a daughter, Pam (Jerry) Gahr of Rolla, Mo.; two sons, Douglas (Rhynonda) of Waverly and Steven (Kay) of Littleton, Colo.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Arlene Richardson of Loveland, Colo., and Janice Stille of Mesa, Ariz.

Preceded in death by: her parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, with burial in Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly. There will be no public visitation. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, is assisting with arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice of Waverly, Trinity United Methodist Church or Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community.
