SUMNER -- Helen Mildred Harms, 92, of Sumner, died Monday, Dec. 16, at the Hillcrest Home, Sumner.

She was born Feb. 10, 1921, in rural Fayette County near Sumner, daughter of Dewey and Harriett Zimmerman Duhrkopf. On Aug. 18, 1942, she married Myron W. Harms at her parents' home in rural Sumner; he died May 2, 2008.

A 1938 graduate of Sumner High School, Mrs. Harms worked many years at McAloon’s Dry Goods and later at McAloon’s Grocery, prior to retiring. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sumner.

Survived by: two sisters, Sally Duhrkopf of Waterloo and Sharon (Ron) Seehase of Waverly; and two sisters-in-law, Mildred Duhkopf Elliott of Lincolnshire, Ill., and Darlene Duhrkopf of Sumner.

Preceded in death by: her parents; her stepmother, Alberta Duhrkopf; three brothers, Howard, Rodney and George Duhrkopf; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Duhrkopf.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church, Sumner, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, and an hour before services Friday at the church.
