WAVERLY -- Iris M. Oltrogge Wilhelm, 72, of Waverly, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly, from complications of Lou Gehrig’s disease.

She was born May 29, 1941, on the family farm near Readlyn, daughter of Edward and Helena “Helen” Wehling Oltrogge. On May 27, 1987, she married John “Jack” Wilhelm III at Hollywood Lutheran Church, Los Angeles.

She graduated in 1959 from Readlyn High School, Readlyn, and then moved to Arlington Heights, Ill., where she worked at A.M. Castle Steel Co. In 1963 she moved to Waverly and worked in the purchasing department for Shield Bantam Crane Co. In 1965 she moved to Beverly Hills, Calif., where she worked for TWA as a ticket agent, moving to several different locations, retiring in 2000 after 35 years of service. Mrs. Wilhelm was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Waverly.

Survived by: her husband; five sisters, Daphine Lundt and Susan (Gaylen) Rundle, both of Oelwein, Ilene Blume of Waverly, Doris (Eugene) Hyman of Waterloo and Jane (John) Cocuzzi of San Angelo, Texas; and two brothers, Delbert (LaVonne) Oltrogge of Readlyn and Philip Oltrogge (Sherry Gable) of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: her parents; a sister, Karen; and a brother-in-law, Donald Lundt.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, is assisting the family.
