WAVERLY — Ruth Jensen, 87, of Waverly, died Saturday, Nov. 6, at home.

She was born Sept. 5, 1923, in Clarksville, daughter of William and Ella Mae Raines Miller. She married Wayne Jensen on Oct. 26, 1941, at Peace United Church of Christ in Waverly. He died Sept. 23, 1999.

She graduated from Waverly High School in 1940. She worked in the cafeteria at Waverly Sales Co. for 13 years. The couple farmed, and she cared for the lawn and garden, canned the harvest and butchered chickens, among other chores on the farm. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Waverly where she served in the choir, women's guild and as a Sunday school teacher.

Survived by: a daughter, Sandy (Lloyd) Martin of Tripoli; a son, Bruce (Becky Winkey) of Waverly; three grandsons, Joel Martin, Jeffrey (Ann) Martin and John (Kathy) Martin; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Jacob and Christopher Martin; her best friend, Beverly Wedeking of Plainfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Bill Miller.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Baptist Church, Peace United Church of Christ, with burial in Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to Peace United Church of Christ Building Fund.
