SUMNER — Carrie Creszenz Gaede, 78, of Sumner, died at home Monday, Nov. 8, from natural causes.

She was born Feb. 14, 1932, in Plato, Mo., daughter of John A. and Creszenz "Tracy" Bender Price. On April 18, 1954, she married Walter H. Gaede at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sumner. He died Aug. 23, 2000.

Mrs. Gaede graduated from Tripoli High School in 1951. She and her husband farmed from 1954 to 1968 in the Sumner area, and also were caretakers of St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Sumner, for many years. She did office cleaning at Sumner City Hall and cooking at Meadowbrook Country Club.

Survived by: two daughters, Diana (Larry) Selck and Wanda Conway, both of Sumner; a son, William Sr. of Sumner; seven grandchildren; a sister, Agnes Parkinson of Oelwein; and four brothers, Virgil Price of Georgia, Marvin and David Price, both of Tripoli, and Alvin Price of Fairbank.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Andrew; and a sister, Frances.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, Sumner, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed in her name to the church or Heart of Iowa Hospice, both in Sumner, American Cancer Society, or any charity of donor's choice.
