Ruth Anna Boeckman, the daughter of Herman and Martha (Raether) Flanscha, was born April 26, 1923, in Dayton Township, Bremer County, Iowa. She was baptized May 17, 1923, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Westgate, Iowa. Ruth was united in marriage with Ruthfurd Bonorden on January 30, 1943. On September 21, 1947, Ruth was united in marriage with Clarence Boeckman by Pastor Nagler at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sumner, Iowa. Clarence preceded her in death on February 18, 1985. Ruth worked at the Tripoli Canning Factory and was a manager and waitress at many Tripoli restaurants including, Tripoli Bowling Alley, the V.F.W., St. Elsewhere, and the Country Inn.

Ruth's death occurred Thursday, November 11, 2010, at the Tripoli Nursing Home from natural causes. She was eighty-seven years old. She was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli. She loved to bowl and was a member of many bowling league teams in Tripoli. She enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Bulls basketball teams, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.

Ruth is survived by three sons, Roger (Nancy) Bonorden of Waverly, Iowa; Jim Boeckman of Readlyn, Iowa; and Rick (Becky) Boeckman of Sumner, Iowa; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, Jody (Dan) Skogen and Tara; Lisa Bonorden; Renee Heine, Jamie, Tasha, and Quinn; Robin (Brett) Greenfield, Tiffany and Jessica; Rhonda (Mike) Woltman, Nickita, Derek, and Danielle; Aaron Boeckman; and Andrew (Ginny) Boeckman; one brother, Herb (Donna) Flanscha of Janesville, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Delores Flanscha and Angie Boeckman of Tripoli.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; a daughter-in-law, Jeannie Boeckman; her parents; one brother, Norman Flanscha; and three sisters, Viola Albrecht, Luella Tegtmeier, and Leona Buhr.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 15, 2010, at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli with Rev. Marilyn Sargent officiating. Interment will be held at Union Mound Cemetery in Sumner. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and one hour before services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made to Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli. Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli is handling arrangements.
