WAVERLY - Betty Lou Dienst, 83, of Waverly, died Thursday, Nov. 11, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

She was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Chickasaw County, daughter of Louie Whitnabel and Vera Speicher Whitnabel. She married Albert Dienst Aug. 10, 1947, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Richfield. He died in 2008.

She graduated from Sumner Schools in 1945, earned her teaching certificate from Upper Iowa and taught country school for four years. She was an organist for St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Waverly from 1963 to 2010.

Survived by: a daughter, Kristi (Alan Allbee) of West Union; two sons, Dee (Kathy Brom) of Mason City and Jay of Edina, Minn.; a granddaughter; two grandsons; a sister, Lois Wittenburg of Osage; and a brother, Louis (Nancy) of New Hampton.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Waverly, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 5:30 p.m. today at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran School or Cedar Valley Hospice.
