WAVERLY - Paula M. Wehling, 93, of Waverly, died Saturday, Nov. 13, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly.

She was born April 7, 1917, in Readlyn, daughter of Louis and Emma Richmann Widdel. She married Lorenz Wehling on Sept. 12, 1940, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Readlyn. He died Aug. 2, 1994.

Mrs. Wehling attended Readlyn High School and studied music at Wartburg College. She worked nine years as a bookkeeper at Miller Hatchery. The couple farmed north of Bremer until retiring in 1978. She then worked as secretary/receptionist at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community for 14 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she was organist for 50 years.

Survived by: a daughter, Janice Hare of Iowa City; a son, Paul (Margaret) of Cedar Falls; a granddaughter; and a sister-in-law, Irma Widdel of Waverly.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Rueben Widdel and an infant; and an infant sister.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial in Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church, Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community or Cedar Valley Hospice of Waverly.
