PLAINFIELD — Mildred Selma Ruehs, 81, of Plainfield, died Saturday, Nov. 27, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

She was born Oct. 31, 1929, daughter of Rudolph W. and Amanda S. Milius Kohagen. She married Waldo Ruehs on Nov. 26, 1950, at St. John's Spring Fountain Church, Sumner.

Mrs. Ruehs graduated from Tripoli High School, then was employed at Lutheran Mutual and for the Harrison family of Nashua. Later she and her husband farmed in rural Plainfield. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church – Western Douglas.

Survived by: her husband; three daughters, Dixie (Darrel) Kramer of Plainfield, Sheila (Tom) Evancie of Auburn, Calif., and Julie Lewis of Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Michael (Mishell) of Plainfield; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Wilma Raudabaugh of Waterloo; two brothers, George (Lorraine) Kohagen of Waverly and Rudy (Marilyn) Kohagen of Cedar Falls; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Kohagen of Readlyn.

Preceded in death by: four brothers, Edmund, Bill, Oscar and Melvin Kohagen; and by three sisters, Dorleen Kueker, Margaret Walther and Leona Zander.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church - Western Douglas, rural Plainfield, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice of Waverly or the church.
