WAVERLY - Irma Marie Mattke, 83, of Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly, died there Wednesday, Oct. 20.

She was born July 7, 1927, in Rockwell City, daughter of George and Lila Piper Kidwell, and at an early age was adopted by Carl and Hedwig Brase. On Feb. 18, 1946, she married Norman E. Mattke in Albert Lea, Minn. He died Sept. 23, 2003.

Mrs. Mattke worked for the Marshall Canning Factory, Waverly, and also helped several families in their homes. For many years, the couple owned and operated Norm's Studio; she also did oil paintings for the newlyweds. She owned and operated an Electrolux vacuum cleaner business from 1974 to 2008, when she retired.

Survived by: two daughters, Judy (Dean) Miller of Waverly and Mary (Jim) Sevey of Janesville; two sons, Michael (Jane) of Glenpool, Okla., and Dennis (Beth) of Waverly; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Alfred (Carol) Brase of Waterloo; and two sisters-in-law, Florence Dodd of Alta and Rosalee Brase of Horton.

Preceded in death by: an infant son, Ronald Eugene; two sisters, Marilyn Schoenfeld and Bethel Hazel; and seven brothers, Gerhardt, Herbert and Alvin Brase, and George, Paul, Floyd and Frankie Kidwell.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, with burial in Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
