SUMNER - Willis George Schlatter, 75, of Sumner, died Thursday, March 25, in his home.

He was born July 23, 1934, son of Gerhart and Hattie Hochberger Schlatter, in rural Fayette County. He married Valitha Dunahoo on Oct. 10, 1959, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner.

He received his education in the rural schools near Sumner. Mr. Schlatter farmed and milked cows before retiring in 1999.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Chris of Sumner; two daughters, Jackie of Sumner and Julie Allison of Fredericksburg; three grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Jaschen of Frederika; and two stepsisters, Bonnie Fink of Sumner and Annette (Wayne) Stufflebeam of Evansdale.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Lorraine Rieck; a stepfather, Bernard Nolte; and two brothers-in-law, Vaylard Rieck and Arnold Jaschen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Sumner, with inurnment at a later date in Fremont Cemetery, Tripoli. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, and for an hour preceding services Monday at the church.
