SUMNER -- Ruby O'Del Meyer, 101, of Sumner, died Monday, Oct. 21, at Hillcrest Home in Sumner.

She was born May 29, 1912, in Clark County, daughter of George Emry and Ora Barr Barcus. She married Dalton Meyer on Dec. 18, 1932. He died in 1968.

She attended Tripoli High School and earned a degree from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, and a diploma from Universal Institute of Indiana. Mrs. Meyer and her husband farmed in Bremer County. She also babysat occasionally, played the church organ for over 35 years and served as president of the Band Parents.

Survived by: three sons, Robert (Ilene) and Ronald (Dixie), both of Sumner, and Merlin (Judy) of Wright, Minn.; two daughters, Joyce Kammeyer of Cabot, Ark., and Jeanette (Marlowe) Hoth of Sumner; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a granddaughter; a brother, Harold Barcus; and a son-in-law, Lyle Kammeyer.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, Spring Fountain, of rural Sumner, with burial in Lutheran Cemetery of Sumner Township. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
