DENVER — Florene Happel, 93, of Denver, died Tuesday, April 9, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

She was born Oct. 12, 1919, in Denver, daughter of Adolph and Minnie Buhr Koelling. She married Richard H. Happel on Nov. 30, 1939, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Maxfield. He died Jan. 31, 1996.

Mrs. Happel graduated from Denver High School. She and her husband farmed the Koelling family farm, and she was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Survived by: two sons, James (Carolyn) of Denver and Lyle (Sally) of Waterloo; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a son, Bruce.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Denver, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
