TRIPOLI — Warren Everett Tessmer, 89, of Tripoli, died Wednesday, April 3, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born April 29, 1923, in Eden Township, son of Walter and Helen Pleggenkuhle Tessmer. He married Geneva Grebien on Oct. 10, 1948, and she preceded him in death. He later married Bernice Koch on Dec. 4, 1965, at Faith United Church of Christ, Tripoli.

Mr. Tessmer graduated from Alpha High School in 1941. He worked for many years at Rath Packing Co., Waterloo. He also did tiling work in the Tripoli area. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Congregation, Tripoli.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Karl of Tripoli; a daughter, Ann (Jon) Hilliard of Dike; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Della Reiser of Fredericksburg.

Preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Mary Margaret; four brothers, Ted, Archibald, Dean and Alvin; and a sister, Labenius.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Congregation, Tripoli, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Rettig Funeral Home, Tripoli, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
