SHELL ROCK — Francis Carl “Fritz” Thompson Jr., 66, of Shell Rock, died Wednesday, April 24, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

He was born March 11, 1947, in Waverly, son of Francis Carl Sr. and Helen Hill Thompson.

Mr. Thompson attended the Waverly-Shell Rock School System, then served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a barber and owned and operated several different barber shops. Later, he worked as a siding applicator and carpenter.

Survived by: his mother of Shell Rock; and two brothers, Alexander “Alex” (Evelyn) of Waverly and Glen “Sam” of Liberty, Mo.

Preceded in death by: his father; and a brother, Larry.

According to his wishes, his body has been cremated, and no public services are planned. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Shell Rock, is assisting the family.
