TRIPOLI — Lowell Dean Goodenbour, 83, of rural Tripoli, died at home Wednesday, May 22, of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 10, 1930, in Tripoli, son of Lee and Helen Meswarb Goodenbour. He married Betty Johnson on June 9, 1951, in Tripoli. She died in 1992.

He graduated from Tripoli High School in 1948 and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Goodenbour was employed at Peoples Bank, Waterloo, and retired from Deere & Co. in 1991.

Survived by: a son, Scott (Sally) of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Koch of Waterloo; and a special friend, JoAn Siglin of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Janice Mueller and Beryle Wixcel; and two brothers, Leo and Lloyd.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith United Church of Christ, Tripoli. Inurnment will be at Fremont Cemetery, Tripoli, at a later date. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Rettig Funeral Home, Tripoli, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
