TRIPOLI - Bernice L. Jahnke, 105, of Tripoli, died Saturday, June 8, at Tripoli Nursing Home.

She was born Oct. 3, 1907, in Janesville, daughter of W.W. and Ethel Bowen Simpson. She married Herbert W. Jahnke on Nov. 19, 1948, in Rockford, Ill. He preceded her in death Feb. 25, 2000.

Mrs. Jahnke worked for many years at O’Brien’s Sundries in Tripoli. She was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli.

Survived by: a daughter, Marlys (L. Ray) Bailey of Roseburg, Ore.; five grandchildren; and several great-, great-great and great-great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: her husband; a daughter, Vanada Jahnke; a son, Gene Sells; three sisters; and two brothers.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith United Church of Christ, Tripoli, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Rettig Funeral Home, Tripoli, is in charge of arrangements.
